English Translation
A man is not struck with just one stick: once you have decided to help someone, give again so that the gratitude is real. The same holds in a fight, since a single blow will not make an enemy submit.
Cultural Context
“Used to urge repeating a favour, or persisting in a struggle rather than stopping after one effort.”
